It is in this spirit that we study the case of Quttinirpaaq National Park, the northernmost in Canada. It’s therefore legitimate to ask ourselves the question of the objectives of a national park in the Canadian High Arctic. We see in this brief that sovereignty appears as an answer to this question. By creating a national park, Canadian government will assert its ownership over its territories. However, this sovereignty is also affirmed but Canada’s ability to understand and act in these polar deserts. In addition, the Quttinirpaaq has the potential to become a standard of high Arctic ecosystems internationally. But today, many actors come into play in the management of these territories, in particular for the exploitation of resources but also for representation of Inuit culture.
