Ugotoviti smo želeli, kako se ploskev spreminja, ali so spremembe zaskrbljujoče in kakšne so razlike iz leta v leto. Opazovali smo časovno vrsto satelitskih posnetkov Landsat v obdobju med januarjem 2000 in septembrom 2019. V spletni platformi Google Earth Engine smo izračunali normirani diferencialni snežni indeks (NDSI) in na njegovi osnovi ugotavljali spremembe. Časovne vrste so prikazane za območje celotne Grenlandije, za območje ledenika Petermann na severozahodu in ledenika Helheim na jugovzhodu Grenlandije. Izdelali smo tudi časovno vrsto povprečnih dnevnih temperatur za območje celotne Grenlandije, pri tem smo uporabili podatke sistema MODIS. Ugotovitve smo kartirali in jih podkrepili z grafičnimi prikazi poteka temperatur. Predstavljene so tudi raziskave strokovnjakov, ki dnevno spremljajo taljenje ledene ploskve za območje celotne Grenlandije. V nalogi smo dobili dober pregled, kako pogosto je taljenje in kateri deli so najbolj izpostavljeni. Rezultati in raziskave potrjujejo, da lahko s satelitskimi posnetki kakovostno spremljamo spremembe v daljšem časovnem obdobju. The master thesis deals with the use of satellite images to detect changes in the Greenlandic inland ice. We wanted to find out how the surface changes, whether the changes are and what the differences are from year to year. We observed the time series of Landsat satellite images between January 2000 and September 2019 and determined the changes based on the Normalized-Difference Snow Index (NDSI), which we calculated on the Google Earth Engine online platform. The time series are shown for the whole of Greenland, for the Petermann Glacier in the northwest and the Helheim Glacier in the southeast of Greenland. Using MODIS data, we have also created time series of average daily temperatures for the whole of Greenland. The results were mapped and supported by graphical representations of the temperature curve. Research results from experts who observe daily melting of the ice surface for the whole of Greenland are also presented. The study carried out gave us a good overview of how frequent the melting is and which parts are most exposed. The results confirm the importance and quality of monitoring changes with satellite images over a long period of time.
