This article will provide an overview to the ongoing scientific and political debate on interlinkages between climate change and conflict. First, it will outline the key challenges of climate change. This will include an overview, how responses to climate change such as mitigation and adaptation measures could also become security risks. Finally, the emerging political processes to tackle the security challenges of climate change will be discussed. En este artículo se proporcionará una visión general sobre los debates científicos y políticos en curso en cuanto la interrelación entre el cambio climático y la aparición de conflictos. En primer lugar, se esbozarán los principales desafíos del cambio climático; en segundo lugar, las principales relaciones entre el cambio climático y la naturaleza de los conflictos. Esto incluirá una visión general sobre cómo las respuestas al cambio climático, tales como medidas de mitigación y adaptación, también podrían convertirse en riesgos para la seguridad y la paz. Por último, se discutirán los procesos políticos emergentes para hacer frente a los retos del cambio climático. Dans cet article nous donnerons une vision générale des débats scientifiques et politiques en cours concernant les relations entre le changement climatique et l’émergence de conflits. Tout d’abord, nous esquissons les défis principaux du changement climatique et d’autre part, les relations plus importantes entre les changements climatiques et la nature des conflits. Cela comprendra un aperçu de la façon comme les réponses au changement climatique, y compris l’atténuation et l’adaptation, pourraient aussi devenir un risque pour la sécurité et la paix. Finalement, nous discutons les processus politiques émergents pour faire face aux défis du changement climatique. |

First, it will outline the key challenges of climate change. Second, the main relationships between climate change and conflict will be scrutinized. This will include an overview, how responses to climate change such as mitigation and adaptation measures could also become security risks. Finally, the emerging political processes to tackle the security challenges of climate change will be discussed.
