Description
Summary:Study about Inftuenza in antarctic birds. The important question about Influenza epidemiology even not answered, and the possible relationship between birds and human influenza stimulated our interest to research HAI antibodies, to internal antigens (RNP) antibodies, and isolation attemps in embrionated hens eggs, from birds of isla Media Luna, Argentine Antarctic. Fifteen antigens were used, 282 serums and 96 tracheal and cloacal swabs from different avian species were coUected, these materials were sampled during the period December 12, 1978 up to January 30, 1979. HAI antibodies against the antigens studied were not detected. Antibodies to internal antigens types A and B Influenza virus were not detected. Isolation was not obtained. The results obtained shows that, had not indirect nor straight evidence on birds in the arca and the period studied of Influenza infection.
