Description
Summary:The Deception island volcanism is constitued by tholeitic-calc alkaline rocks High Al 2O 2 contents and low TiO 2 and K 2O are features of these volcanic rocks. The composition change from basalts, basaltic andesites, andesites to dacrtes. These characteristics permit to associate this volcanism to the subduction process between the Drake and Shetland plates. The subduction process continues at the present time.
