Summary: | The program aims to enforce the understanding of the interaction between climate forcing and environmental responses in the interglacial periods of glaciation, deglaciation and rapid changes in the climate. The environment-climate feedback processes is studied through the correlations between markers climate and environmental stratigraphy derived from chemical, physical and isotopic high-resolution ice cores taken in Antarctica. The main objectives of the project: 1. better characterization of the interglacial periods; 2. reconstruction of climate changes faster in the last glacial cycle; 3. study of the propagation of changes in climatic and environmental conditions in the areas of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans of Antarctica; 4. study of the processes of atmospheric circulation that control the current wet-dry precipitation in DC. |
