Summary:Rifle bullet found in a stranded minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) Here, we describe the necropsy of a stranded adult female minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) in May 2022 in Denmark. The cause of death could not be determined due to decay. However, the minke whale had at some point earlier been shot as there were wounds from at least one and probably several projectiles. These were not fatal however. The incident may stem from legal Greenlandic whale hunting, but a certain geographical origin could not be established.
