It is also for anyone who does not have the opportunity to get up there and who nevertheless wants to get to know the unique north-east Greenlandic nature and the history of the area in a relatively easily accessible way. The book has been titled ”Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord” as it is this impressive fi ord and its side branches that dominate the area between 73 and 74 degrees north of Greenland’s north-east coast, an area that measures approx. 250 km x 100 km – or a total of about 25,000 km2. The pictures in the book are of both older date and newer date. Some are from the bright Arctic summertime and others from the cold winter months. A deliberate choice to illustrate the Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord-region over a number of years and seasons.
