I rapporti tra l'Unità Longobucco e le Unità della catena apina Europa-vergente nelle finestra tettonica del Crati (Calabria nord-orientale).

In the Crati Valley, in the area between Tarsia and Terranova da Sibari, the relectionships between the Longobucco-Longi-Taormina Unit and ihe calabrian Europe-verging alpine chain units are well exposed (AMODIO MORELLI el al., 1976). The new structural pattern found, with the Lon gobucco Unit lying between the ophiolitic Maivito and/or Diamanle-Terranova Units and the austroal- pine Polia-Copanello Unit, brings up for discussion again the existing geological models for the Ca- labria-Peloritani Arc evolution. A different kynematic evolution of the paleo- geographic zone, where the sedimentation of the Longobucco-Longi-Taormina series occurred, is pro- posed. This zone was probably involved partly in the construction of the Europe-verging alpine chain (Longobucco Unit s.s. in Sila) and partly in the Africa-vergent aipine chain (Longi-Taormina Unit in the Peloritani Mountains). This represents a new contribution to the indi- viduation of two sectors with different kynematic behaviour in the Calabria-Peloritani Arc, according to the hypothesis formulated by SCANDONC (1978) and BONARDI ei ill. (1980).
