Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Library, Isl. Ms. 85 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.443, copied by Ibrāhīm ibn Muṣṭafá ibn [?]. Transcription finished latter Shawwāl 1071 [June 1661]. Accompanying materials: Portion of a leaf from another manuscript (paginated pp.367-368). Former shelfmark: British Museum, London "No. 55. Jami al-rumuz." Binding: Pasteboards covered in combed marbled paper (blue, pink, salmon, yellow, etc.) with spine and edges/turn-ins in red-brown leather Type III binding (without flap) board linings in laid paper sewn in light brown thread, two stations in very poor condition with much abrasion, water and pest damage, lifting and losses of leather, delamination and losses of boards, etc. housed in box for protection. Support: European laid paper with 7 laid lines per cm. (horizontal) and chain lines spaced 26-27 mm. (vertical) crown-star-crescent watermark (compare Heawood 1132) well-burnished much staining, some losses. Decoration: Keywords and section headings rubricated some overlining and textual dividers in the form of inverted commas in red. Script: Naskh small Turkish or Persian hand occasional right-sloping head serif on alif, lām, etc. slight effect of tilt to the left kāf mashkūlah (mashqūqah) preferred mainly closed counters occasional effect of words descending to baseline. Layout: Written in 27 lines per page frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident). Collation: VI+1 (13), 9 V(103), 2 IV (119), 10 V(219), II (223) chiefly quinions catchwords present foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals (begins with ۱ on 'title page' (p.15) pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes inserts). Colophon: "Scribal," triangular, reads: "على يد العبد الفقير المعترف بالعجز والتقصير افقر الخليقة ابراهيم بن مصطفى بن [.؟] اواخر شوال سنة احدى وسبعين والف من الهجرة النبوية على مهاجرها افضل الصلوة واتم التسليم . امين" Explicit: "فانه فكر مسائل الاخرين والمعتقل والغنم المذبوحة في اخر الكتاب ثم نبه على ما اختاره مما هو المعول عليه في الباب فهذا اوان فراغي . فانك اكرم الاكرمين وارحم الراحمين والحمد لله رب العالمين" Incipit: "الحمد لله الذي فضلنا بتعليم اصول مبسوط الجامع الكبير من الاحكام . اما بعد فلما كان نظم منشور الفتاوى في انفع الامهات وجمع النوازل من اهم المهمات قام بذلك حلال المشكلات ذو التنقيح والتوضيح للمبهمات . ثم وقفت لسواد جامع الرموز في ستين ونصف من الاعوام ."
