Summary:Charianthus grenadensis Penneys & Judd, determined by Darin S. Penneys 2001 Wet montane forest at lower elevations walking up through palm brakes (Prestoea montana) and on up to elfin forest at the top. Higher elevation cloud forest with Hillia parastica, Oreopanax capitatus, Utricularia alpina, Ilex sideroxyloides, and Myrcia platyclada. Common tree to 10 m tall in elfin forest. Flower buds reddish-pink to fuschia; flowers with calyx maroon, petals cream-yellow tinged heavily with pink-salmon, giving the flower an orange appearance.
