Description
Summary:Climate change affects the Arctic disproportionally. Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine furthers the burden upon already vulnerable Arctic ecosystems and its inhabitants, who are at the forefront of climate change impacts. Arctic Indigenous Peoples have resisted and maintained traditional lifestyles in harmony with nature since time immemorial, despite persistent incursions from outsiders. However, the current state of uncertainty in the region as a result of the conflict in Ukraine increases geopolitical and economic interests in the region, putting at further risk the fragile Arctic environment and Indigenous Peoples living there.
