They will need to be aware of the role of the school in the creation of healthy communities, as healthy communal living is one foundational element in the formation of stable self-government. This article is intended to provide a cross-cultural exploration of the concept of community and of seven features of a com­munity school model based on an analysis of 30 selections written by community education theorists.
