CAMINHOS DA RESISTÊNCIA: A RECEPÇÃO DE VISITANTES COMO PRÁTICA SOCIAL DISCURSIVA À VISIBILIDADE DOS POVOS ORIGINÁRIOS NO RIO GRANDE DO NORTE/RN, BRASIL

By understanding visitor reception as a social practice that ratifies the resistance discourse of the first nations, it makes room to analyze tourism from a political lens. This study examines visitor reception as an element of visibility and resistance among the Potiguares do Catu community in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), Brazil. To that end, several methods were followed, including a literature review on the World Wide Web (WWW), a review of social media, and participant observation of various experiences offered in the community. Results reveal that there is a movement among some resident groups, who, at their core, defend the existence of first nations in RN, thereby contradicting the hegemonic discourses of the institutions responsible for promoting tourism in the state. Therefore, the act of welcoming becomes a political discourse of resistance. Compreender a recepção de visitantes como uma prática social que ratifica o discurso de resistência dos povos originários abre espaço para a compreensão do fenômeno turístico por meio de inserção da dimensão política como perspectiva de análise. Assim, este estudo analisa a recepção de visitantes como um elemento de visibilidade e resistência por parte da comunidade Potiguaras do Catu no Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (RN)/Brasil. Para tanto, foi necessário percorrer diversos caminhos indo desde levantamento bibliográfico físico e na World Wide Web (WWW), à observação em mídias sociais e participante in loco por meio da vivência das experiências ofertadas na comunidade. Os resultados apontaram que há uma articulação de alguns grupos residentes locais que traz em seu bojo o discurso da existência de povos originários no RN, contradizendo, inclusive, aos discursos hegemônicos, da promoção institucional do turismo no estado, localizando, portanto, o ato de recepcionar como um discurso político de resistência.
