Depuis vingt-cinq ans, on observe un regain d’intérêt scientifique pour l’étude de la magie dans les sources norroises. L’ouvrage de Nicolas Meylan (NM) s’inscrit dans cette tendance, mais cherche à s’en démarquer en abordant la question de la magie sous un angle nouveau : celui du discours politique et idéologique. L’auteur y analyse les discours de magie des xiiie et xive siècles en lien avec la royauté. Il ne s’agit pas là de son premier traitement du sujet, qu’il a déjà abordé dans sa thè. Over the past 25 years, there has been a renewed scientific interest in the study of magic in Nordic sources. Nicolas Meylan (NM) is part of this trend, but seeks to distinguish itself by addressing the issue of magic from a new perspective: political and ideological discourse. The author analyses the rhetoric of the magic of xiety and 14th centuries in relation to the royal. This is not his first treatment of the subject, which he has already addressed in his thè.
