Description
Summary:This article discusses the construction of identity and space in the works of the Belgian writer and artist Christian Dotremont (1922-1979), best known as the cofounder of the Cobra-group and as the inventor of the "logogramme". His special relationship with the Sápmi is analyzed in the perspective of a specific discourse on the North called "borealism". The author claims that Dotremont’s mythical self-representation as a "man of the North", his individual choices as well as his aesthetical ideas and artistic practice profoundly renew the traditional approach of the North by the South.
