In recent Sámi fiction literature, conflicts concerning place and identity, ownership to natural resources and climate changes are brought into question as well. With the modern fantasy novel from 2013 Ilmmiid gaskkas (In Between Worlds) by Máret Ánne Sara as a turning point, this article will address these conflicts and discuss border-crossing, myths and modernity in Sápmi, drawing on theoretical perspectives from decolonization and ecocriticism.
