| Summary: | This article proposes to study the relation between writing and trauma in Croire aux fauves by Nastassja Martin. In this book, the anthropologist narrates her encounter with a bear who attacks her in Kamchatka, at the eastern end of Russia – and the long healing process, physical as well as psychological, that ensues. While partially following in the footsteps of trauma literature, Croire aux fauves turns writing into a therapeutic process through which the author narrator reappropriates her story, by wringing it from psychanalytic and medical discourses. Influenced by the animism of the peoples she studies, she uses the narration of her experience to suture the wound between different aspects of her identity, as linked to two different worlds : the West on the one hand, the East on the other. Cet article se propose d’étudier la relation entre écriture et traumatisme dans Croire aux fauves de Nastassja Martin. L’anthropologue y raconte sa rencontre avec un ours qui l’attaque dans le Kamtchatka, aux confins de la Russie, et le long processus de guérison, tant physique que psychologique, qui s’ensuit. Tout en s’inscrivant partiellement dans la lignée de la littérature traumatique, Croire aux fauves fait de l’écriture un processus thérapeutique par lequel l’autrice-narratrice se réapproprie son histoire, l’arrachant aux discours psychanalytique et médical. Influencée par l’animisme des peuples qu’elle étudie, elle utilise la mise en récit de son expérience pour suturer les béances entre différentes facettes de son identité, liées à deux mondes différents : l’Occident d’un côté, l’Orient de l’autre.
