L’année 1980 marque un tournant dans l’histoire environnementale américaine, comme en témoignent trois événements distincts, mais révélateurs des contradictions toujours plus apparentes entre croissance économique et protection de l’environnement. Le premier est la création du plus grand parc national américain, l’Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Institué par l’Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, ce parc d’une superficie de 78’050 km2 – soit près de deux fois celle de la S. 1980 marked a turning point in American environmental history, as witnessed by three distinct events, but revealing the increasingly apparent contradictions between economic growth and environmental protection. The first is the creation of the largest US National Park, the Arctic National Wildlife Refge (ANWR). Set up by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, this park with an area of 78 '050 km² – almost twice that of S.
