It will end up stressing the Indian oral tradition to honor the memory and the customs of this forgotten soldiers. Cet article se propose de se concentrer sur les représentations littéraires de la présence et de la collaboration des Premières nations dans la Première Guerre mondiale dans Three Day Road de Joseph Boyden. Il examinera comment l’auteur parvient à conjuguer l’Histoire et les histoires personnelles en s’inspirant des historiens, produisant ainsi un roman historique. Il soulignera les portraits complémentaires des deux personnages principaux pour insister sur la stratégie de l’auteur de mener une guerre sur deux fronts dans l’entrelacs de deux récits. Enfin la tradition orale indienne sera mise en évidence pour honorer la mémoire et les coutumes indiennes de ces soldats souvent oubliés.
