Summary: | This article analyzes the specific role of religion as a resource to get around stigmas on spatial and identity aspects. It characterizes prison hierarchies according to a religious prism and shows how the attendance of Christian chaplaincy offers the opportunity to build a safe space on one hand and on the other, to contribute to a reconstruction of identity based on beliefs. Cet article analyse la place spécifique de la religion en tant que ressource permettant de contourner les stigmates carcéraux à la fois sur le plan spatial et identitaire. Il définit les hiérarchies carcérales au prisme de la religion et montre comment la fréquentation de l’aumônerie chrétienne offre d’une part, la possibilité de créer un espace protégé et d’autre part, de mobiliser des croyances à des fins de réhabilitation individuelle.
