Étrange livre que celui-ci, et difficile à juger selon des critères scientifiques. Après une introduction sur les théories classiques du chamanisme – une technique d’extase selon Eliade ou, mieux, une technique de maîtrise des esprits selon Shirokogoroff (mais l’ouvrage fondamental de Roberte Hamayon, [cf. Arch. n° 74.256], ne fait pas partie des lectures de l’auteur) –, la première partie est une description du chamanisme eskimo (ou inuit), pratiqué par les angakkog au Groenland : son panthé. Strange, he said, and difficult to judge according to scientific criteria. After an introduction to traditional chamanism theories – an extase technique according to Eliade or, better, a technique of mastering minds according to Shirokogoroff (but Roberte Hamayon’s fundamental work, [cf. Arch. No 74.256], is not part of the author’s reading) – the first part is a description of the eskimo chamanism (or Inuit), practised by angakkog in Greenland: his pantea.
