La zone littorale sud de la Basse-Terre est particulièrement riche en sites à pétroglyphes. La Commune de Capesterre-Belle-Eau possède deux stations de roches gravées : l’une se trouve à l’embouchure de la Grande Rivière, dite « Rivière Pérou », la seconde sur la petite rivière de Bananier. S’il est déjà fait mention de la station de Pérou dans la « relation de l’île de la Guadeloupe » du Père Breton (1635, 1656), la station de pétroglyphes de la rivière de Bananier n’a été officiellement con. The southern coastal area of Lower Earth is particularly rich in petroglyphe sites. The municipality of Capesterre-Belle-Eau has two graved rock stations: one is located at the mouth of the Great Rivière, known as ‘Rivière Peru’, the second on the small banana river. While the plant of Peru is already mentioned in the ‘relation of the island of Guadeloupe’ of Pier Breton (1635, 1656), the petroglyphes station in the banana river has not been officially coined.
