The Intercessions at Morning and Evening Prayers are a kind of testimony of Christian faith. The last liturgical reform, made by Vatican Council II, offers much bigger variety of intercessions than earlier Breviary. Intercessions at the Morning Prayer focus their attention on sanctifying of beginning day, its work and apostolate. Intercessions at the Evening Prayer have a strong beseeching character and concern problems of the world, the Church and local community. The last intercession of Vespers always refers to dead. The Liturgy of the Hours are officinal prayer of the Church. So in the Advent time the intercessions show typical for this liturgical period themes: the Second Coming and the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. Also typical for the Advent intercessions are human attitudes to Christ’s coming: waiting, fear, hope, preparation by prayer and penance. Chrześcijańska modlitwa jest odpowiedzią na wezwanie Chrystusa Pana, aby zawsze się modlić i nie ustawać (por. Łk 18, 1). Jednak już sami Apostołowie, choć znane im były różne formy modlitwy starotestamentalnego ludu Bożego, występowali ze wzruszającą prośbą, aby ich Pan i Mistrz zechciał nauczyć ich modlić, zapewne tak, jak sam dawał im przykład (por. Łk 11, 1). Od tamtej pory Modlitwa Pańska pozostaje wzorem modlitwy chrześcijańskiej, choć w ciągu wieków wokół niej i innych modlitw – Psalmów, powstały inne, będące świadectwem chrześcijańskiego lex orandi – lex credendi. Modlitwy wstawiennicze, obok tekstów natchnionych i innych elementów składowych Liturgii Godzin, wyrażają świadectwo chrześcijańskiej pobożności, a także i wiary. Będąc publiczną modlitwą Kościoła, pozostają miejscem teologicznego poznania, gdyż nieustannie inspirują się słowem Bożym. Celem modlitw wstawienniczych Jutrzni jest poświęcenie Bogu rozpoczynającego się dnia wypełnionego pracą i szeroko rozumianym apostolatem. Nieszpory zaś, posiadające charakter wybitnie błagalny, zanoszone są w intencjach świata, Kościoła, niekiedy lokalnej wspólnoty. Ostatnie wezwanie rezerwowane jest ...
