Summary:The aim of this publication is to present almost a hundred years history of the building, where the military hospital of Lublin is situated, on the basis of its historical background. The building was constructed in the twenties. Before it was transformed into a hospital, it had been Jesuit College – Theological faculty dedicated to St Andrew Bobola called “Bobolanum”. During the World War II it started functioning as a military hospital, at first ran by army of occupation, then since 1944 by Polish army. After the War, Jesuits got back to some of the rooms for a short period of time but in 1952 they moved “Bobolanum” to Warsaw. During the post-war period the hospital had became the medical facilities for the medical department of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, transformed into Medical University of Lublin. In the following years the hospital had expanded and became a specialist medical facility for a military unit stationed in Lublin, international brigade and the civilians. The military hospital of Lublin became one of the most important medical facilities on the East border of NATO after it had joined the North Atlantic Alliance. The name of the hospital had been changing before its name had been finally established as a “1 Wojskowy Szpital Kliniczny z Polikliniką Samodzielny Publiczny Zakład Opieki Zdrowotnej w Lublinie”. The article is based on the source materials available in the hospital archive, municipal archive of Lublin, local libraries, and accessible publications. Celem publikacji jest ukazanie prawie stuletnich dziejów budynku, w którym mieści się szpital wojskowy w Lublinie na tle wydarzeń historycznych. Gmach wybudowany w latach 20. XX wieku, przed rozpoczęciem pełnienia funkcji szpitala, mieścił w sobie jezuicką szkołę wyższą – Wydział Teologiczny pod wezwaniem Świętego Andrzeja Boboli, tzw. „Bobolanum”. W czasie II wojny światowej zaczął pełnić funkcję szpitala wojskowego, najpierw pod zarządem wojsk okupacyjnych, a od 1944 roku wojsk polskich. Po wojnie do części pomieszczeń na krótki ...
