Senior man and science - realization of needs of self-improvement and self-education as an example of the Dębicki University of the Third Age

The purpose of this article is to present the University of the Third Age as a place conducive to self-realization for seniors. It is an attempt to show the activity of the elderly today. The article is based primarily on experience in working with students of Dębicki University of the Third Age and in-depth interviews, carried out on a 25-person group of seniors. The main objective of the study was to obtain information on how they perceive the university interested in the third age in the context of their own development. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku jako miejsca sprzyjającego samorealizacji i samorozwojowi seniorów. Stanowi próbę ukazania aktywności współczesnych osób starszych. Artykuł jest oparty przede wszystkim na doświadczeniach w pracy ze słuchaczami Dębickiego Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku i wywiadach „na poły skategoryzowanych”, realizowanych na dwudziestopięcioosobowej grupie seniorów. Głównym celem badań było uzyskanie informacji na temat tego, jak sami zainteresowani postrzegają Uniwersytet Trzeciego Wieku w kontekście własnego rozwoju.
