Η διατριβή αυτή πραγματεύεται τις ελληνογαλλικές σχέσεις σε μια δύσκολη περίοδο για τις δύο χώρες, καθώς αμέσως μετά το τέλος του δευτέρου παγκοσμίου πολέμου, Ελλάδα και Γαλλία προσπάθησαν να ορθοποδήσουν έχοντας να αντιμετωπίσουν πολλές εσωτερικές και εξωτερικές προκλήσεις. Το θέμα είναι σημαντικό δεδομένης της μακράς φιλίας που συνδέει τις δύο χώρες με τους ιδιαίτερους πολιτιστικούς τους δεσμούς.Στην παρούσα μελέτη αναλύονται διεξοδικά οι διπλωματικές και οι οικονομικές σχέσεις των δύο χωρών υπό το πρίσμα σημαντικών ζητημάτων που επηρέασαν την πολιτική τους. Τέτοια ζητήματα ήταν: Η απαγκίστρωση της Γαλλίας από τις αποικίες της στη Μεσόγειο, το ζήτημα της Κύπρου, η κρίση στο Σουέζ και η είσοδος της Ελλάδας στο Βορειοατλαντικό Σύμφωνο. Το γενικό συμπέρασμα της μελέτης είναι ότι οι δύο χώρες, παρά τη διαφορετική στάση τους σε διάφορα διεθνή θέματα κατά την πρώιμη ψυχροπολεμική περίοδο, ενίσχυσαν τους φιλικούς τους δεσμούς τόσο στο επίπεδο της διπλωματίας όσο και στο επίπεδο της οικονομίας. This Ph. D. thesis attempts a discussion of the French – Greek relations under a difficult conjuncture for both countries, in the aftermath of Civil War in Greece and in the wake of what came to be known as the “Cold War” era. It was a time when France and Greece tried to get back on the saddle whilst endeavoring to meet a multitude of challenges, both domestically and on the international arena. Given the traditional bonds of a long friendship and the particular cultural ties between the two states, this aspect avers itself to be of exceptional interest.Within the context of this paper, therefore, there will be analyzed the diplomatic and financial relations between the two countries in the light of a series of critical events that came to affect their respective policies.
