Évolution différentielle de deux secteurs d'une tourbière à palses subarctique (Whapmagoostui-Kuujjuarapik, Québec nordique )

Afin d'identifier les facteurs ayant causé le développement différentiel de deux champs de palses d'une même tourbière de la région de Whapmagoostui-Kuujjuarapik (Québec subarctique), des analyses macrofossiles de la tourbe et des relevés topographiques des deux champs (nommés ici, champs 3 et 4) ont été effectués. Les résultats indiquent une évolution temporelle quasi synchrone des deux milieux, qui aurait été engendré par le climat. À titre d'exemple, le refroidissement du Néoglaciaire aurait favorisé l'ombrotrophication des sites et celui du Petit Âge glaciaire, la formation de palses. La topographie du fond de la tourbière a également influencé les conditions hydrologiques du site. Une légère pente vers le nord-ouest a engendré un appauvrissement trophique plus rapide dans le champ 4. Par ailleurs, à l'emplacement du champ 3, l'apport important en eau de ruissellement a favorisé le maintien des conditions humides et riches et ainsi une grande diversité écologique, une accumulation importante de tourbe et la formation de palses hautes. In order to identify the factors that caused the differential development of two palm fields of the same peat in the Whapmagoostui-Kuujjuarapik region (Sub-Arctic Quebec), macrofossil peat analyses and topographical surveys of both fields (referred to here, fields 3 and 4) have been carried out. The results indicate a near-synchronous temporal evolution of both media, which would have been caused by the climate. For example, the cooling of the Neoglacial would have favoured the ombrotrophication of the sites and that of the Petit Glacial Age, the formation of palses. The topography of the bottom of the bog also influenced the hydrological conditions of the site. A mild north-west slope has led to faster trophic impoverishment in field 4. In addition, at field 3, the high level of run-off water contributed to the maintenance of wetlands and rich conditions and thus to a great ecological diversity, a large accumulation of peat and the formation of high pallets.
