D’autres groupes Inuit habitent l’Alaska et l’extrémité nord-est de la Russie (Tchoukotka). Dans le texte qui suit, je dresserai d’abord un rapide portrait historique de l’implantation du christianisme dans plusieurs sous-régions de l’Arctique groenlandais et canadien avant de revenir sur la poussée des mouvements évangéliques contemporains. Ces transformations qui se sont produites en à peine un siècle sont considérables, mais elles cachent d’importantes continuités sur le plan culturel. The regions of the Canadian Arctic (Inuit Nunangat) and Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat) have a total area of almost 105 000 Inuit on an area of 42 592 016 km². Almost 35 000 Inuit live in Nunavut, 11 000 in Nunavik and almost 50 000 in Greenland. In Canada, 5 000 Inuit are added to the Labrador and 5 000 in the Northwest Territories bordering Alaska, two regions where these peoples are minority, while they represent more than 85 % of the total population in the above mentioned regions. Other Inuit groups live in Alaska and the north-eastern end of Russia (Tchoukotka). In the following text, I will first have a quick historical portrait of the siting of Christianity in several sub-regions of the Greenlandic and Canadian Arctic before reverting to the surge of contemporary evangelics. These transformations, which took place in just a century, are considerable, but they conceal important cultural continuities.
