Les relations qu’ils entretiennent sont bien davantage marqués au coin d’une réelle coopération et les enjeux stratégiques suscitent peu de rivalités. As the impacts of climate change are unfolding in an accelerated way, several analysts and media often depict the Arctic as the frame of deep tensions stemming from rivalry over shipping lanes, extended continental shelves and natural resources. In fact, if indeed there are diverging views over some issues between Arctic States, these differences remain minor. Arctic States do intend to foster cooperation and strategic stakes fuel little conflict between them. While the demonstration of climate change in the Arctic is accelerating, many analysts and media present the region as being under severe tension due to the challenges of controlling maritime routes, taking ownership of maritime spaces and natural resources. In fact, while disputes are indeed between Arctic states, they remain limited. Their relationship is much stronger at the corner of real cooperation and there is little rivalry between strategic challenges. As the impacts of climate change are unfolding in an expanded way, extended continental shelves and natural resources.
