La thèse porte sur l'évolution du rapport occidental à l'altérité arctique. La déconstruction de dispositifs spatiaux de l'Arctique permet d'appréhender l'imaginaire géographique du Grand Nord, clé de lecture dans la construction de l'Autre et de l'Ailleurs septentrionaux. Ces dispositifs concernent les espaces touristiques et artistiques de l'Arctique en Suisse et au Groenland. Ainsi, une galerie d'art inuit suisse, une ville touristique groenlandaise et un navire touristique arctique sont les principaux terrains d'étude de cette recherche. L'analyse des objets, normes, discours et pratiques de ces espaces particuliers se fonde sur des matériaux variés tels que documents textuels, iconographiques et données d'enquêtes effectuées auprès des différents acteurs de ces dispositifs. Les représentations matérialisées des figures du Grand Nord révèlent persistances et variations de cet imaginaire sous des formes stéréotypées ou non, ouvrant ainsi des pistes de réflexion sur le rôle de recréation du tourisme et le processus de dés-exotisation du Grand Nord. The thesis relates to the evolution of the Western relationship to Arctic change. The deconstruction of Arctic space devices makes it possible to grasp the geographical imagination of the High North, which is the key to reading in the construction of the Other and the North Ailleur. These schemes cover Arctic tourist and artistic areas in Switzerland and Greenland. For example, a Swiss Inuit art gallery, a Greenlandic tourist city and an Arctic tourist ship are the main study sites for this research. The analysis of the objects, standards, speeches and practices of these particular areas is based on a variety of materials such as textual documents, iconographies and survey data among the various actors involved in these devices.
