Kr. Undersøkelser av anleggene på Flakstadvåg i Torsken k., på Hemmestad Nedre i Kvæfjord k. og på Rognlivatnet ved Misvær i Bodø k. dokumenterer at det har vært produsert jern i landsdelen helt fra jernalderens begyn. Investigations of the plants at Flakstadvåg in Torsken k., at Hemmestad Nedre in Kvæfjord k. and at Rognlivatnet at Misvær in Bodø k. document that iron has been produced in the region from the beginning of the Iron Age.
