Depuis vingt-cinq ans, on observe un regain d’intérêt scientifique pour l’étude de la magie dans les sources norroises. L’ouvrage de Nicolas Meylan (NM) s’inscrit dans cette tendance, mais cherche à s’en démarquer en abordant la question de la magie sous un angle nouveau : celui du discours politique et idéologique. L’auteur y analyse les discours de magie des xiiie et xive siècles en lien avec la royauté. Il ne s’agit pas là de son premier traitement du sujet, qu’il a déjà abordé dans sa thè. for 25 years, there has been a renewed scientific interest in studying magic in Norroise sources. Nicolas Meylan’s (NM) work is part of this trend, but seeks to stand out by addressing the issue of magic from a new perspective: political and ideological discourse. The author analyses the magic speeches of the 18th and 14th centuries in connection with royal life. This is not his first treatment of the subject, which he has already addressed in his thene.
