| Summary: | The objective of this study is to measure and characterize concentrations of chemicals in plants, berries and soil predominantly located north of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Methods included opportunistic sampling via collection of root vegetables, above ground vegetables, berries and soil and corresponding laboratory analysis to determine the concentrations of metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in each environmental media. As well, the methods utilized for laboratory analysis, quality assurance and quality control are discussed. The results of the laboratory analysis for the chemical concentrations in each of the environmental media samples collected are presented. |
