The types of Coleoptera described by René Jeannel from the austral islands of the Indian Ocean and kept in the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris (France). Professor René Jeannel visited the austral islands of the Indian Ocean from 1939, January 23rd to February 13th. Almost all specimens he collected there bear, among others, a blue label with “ I-II 1939” as a date. The actual dates of his visits according to stations, after his travel account and descriptions, are given in a table. No type of Meropathus randi Jeannel, 1953 (Hydraenidae) could be found again in the MNHN collections. The type-series of Curculionidae comprise : Antarctonesiotes tenuicornis Jeannel, 1940, lectotype and 6 paralectotypes Ectemnorrhinus curtus Jeannel, 1940, lectotype and 6 paralectotypes, Ectemnorrhinus crassipes Jeannel, 1940, lectotype and 17 paralectotypes, Ectemnorrhinus bougainvillei Jeannel, 1940, lectotype and 11 paralectotypes, Ectemnorrhinus geniculatus Jeannel, 1940, lectotype and 5 paralectotypes, Ectemnorrhinus marioni Jeannel, 1940, lectotype (present designation) and 2 paralectotypes, Antarctonesiotes elongatus Jeannel, 1953, 9 paratypes Xanium desolationis Jeannel, 1940, holotype by monotypy Bothrometopus fasciatus Jeannel, 1940, holotype and 3 paratypes, Bothrometopus sulcatus Jeannel, 1953, holotype by monotypy (also belonging to the type-series of B. fasciatus) and Bothrometopus randi Jeannel 1953, 6 paratypes. Le professeur René Jeannel a visité les Terres australes de l’océan Indien du 23 janvier au 13 février 1939. Presque tous les spécimens qu’il y a récoltés portent, entre autres, une étiquette bleue avec la date “ I-II 1939”. Les dates effectives de son passage dans les localités qu’il a visitées sont données dans un tableau. Aucun type de Meropathus randi Jeannel, 1953 (Hydraenidae) n’a pu être retrouvé dans les collections du Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (MNHN).
