The angular dislocation parallel to a free surface. Application to a (111)Si low angle twist boundary

Abstract The elastic displacement field of a sharply angular dislocation with its two legs parallel to a planar free surface is given in a practical analytical form. Its expression gives access, in transmission electron microscopy (TEM), to computed images of numerous interacting dislocations all lo...

Its expression gives access, in transmission electron microscopy (TEM), to computed images of numerous interacting dislocations all located at a distance h close to the free surface. As an application, this field is used repeatedly to study, in dark-field TEM and a g(3g) diffraction mode with g{220}, the contrast of dissociated triple nodes of a low-angle twist boundary in silicon extended over a (111) plane. It is shown that free surface elastic effects can influence the contrasts of some 30? partials if h is at nanometer scale. : User ID: 448406 merged with this user on 22-Sep-2004 by Davis, E A; User ID: 2918241 merged with this user on 02-Mar-2006 by Office, Editorial Bonnet, Roland, roland.bonnet@ltpcm.inpg.fr [Last in: 02-Oct-2008 05:21] merged with this user on 03-Oct-2008 by Office, Editorial; BONNET, Roland, roland.bonnet@minatec.inpg.fr [Last in: 01-Dec-2008 4:18 AM] merged with this user on 27-Dec-2010 by Zegarac, Dusica (Bonnet, R.) : User ID: 8607328 merged with this user on 18-May-2007 by Office, Editorial Youssef, Sami, sami_benyoussef@yahoo.fr merged with this user on 05-Jun-2008 by Office, Editorial (Youssef, Sami) : FOURNEL, Frank, FFournel@sorbier.cea.fr merged with this user on 09-Dec-2008 by Merrifield, Natalie (fournel, frank) roland.bonnet@simap.grenoble-inp.fr (Bonnet, R.) salem.neily@yahoo.fr (NEILY, Salem) sami_benyoussef2002@yahoo.fr (Youssef, Sami) frank.fournel@cea.fr (fournel, frank) INP Grenoble, SIMAP (ex LTPCM) - Domaine Universitaire--> , BP 75--> - 38240 - saint martin d'heres - FRANCE (Bonnet, R.) 16, LE ROUTOIR--> , LES BEALIERES--> - 38240 - FRANCE (Bonnet, R.)
