Future Orientation and Outlook for Vehicle and Transportation Bachelor Education in Oulu UAS

The aim of this thesis was to introduce the current structure of vehicle and transportation engineering bachelor education in Oulu University of Applied Sciences and to create development schemes for the near future by taking into account the needs of the bachelor education in the field of vehicle and transportation engineering in northern Finland as well as the mutual development of vehicle field. In this thesis the mutual development of the vehicle field was investigated. The main sources used in this thesis were the final reports made by several experts from the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT). These sources concerned the precisely investigated future development schemes both globally and nationally, and in the author’s opinion they were correct and valid to be used in this thesis. The future scenario of the growing mining industry and its vision for the future made by TEKES was also taken into account. The present situation for the bachelor education in the field of vehicle and transportation engineering in Finnish Universities of Applies Sciences were surveyed and compared to the option of Oulu UAS vehicle and transportation engineering. This comparison combined with the structure of Oulu UAS option of vehicle and transport engineering is presented in view of a S.W.O.T analysis to support the future decision making process. In conclusion, proposals are presented to maintain and improve the competence for the bachelor education in the field of vehicle and transportation engineering in Oulu UAS.
