Ikääntyneiden yhteisöasuminen : Yhteisöasumisen odotuksia Kolarin kunnassa

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää kolarilaisten eläkeikäisten odotuksia kommuunimuotoisesta yhteisöasumisesta sekä heidän muuttovalmiuksiaan yhteisöön. Saatu tieto ohjaa yhteisöasumisen kehittämistä Kolarin kunnassa. Opinnäytetyö on osa Kolarin kunnan vanhus- ja vammaistyöryhmän käynnistämää palvelutalon alueen kehittämishanketta. Opinnäytetyön tutkimustuloksia hyödynnettiin Kylä-hankesuunnitelman laadinnassa. Opinnäytetyössä käytettiin laadullista lähestymistapaa. Tutkittavat (5) olivat kolarilaisia yhteisöasumisesta kiinnostuneita eläkeläisiä. Aineisto analysoitiin induktiivisesti sisällön analyysillä. Tulosten mukaan kolarilaiset yhteisöasumisesta kiinnostuneet eläkeläiset odottavat yhteisöasumiselta hyvinvointia ja voimaantumista. Voimaannuttavalta ympäristöltä odotettiin esteettömyyttä, saavutettavia palveluita ja luontoelämyksiä. Haastateltavilla oli melko yhdenmukaiset sosiaalisen ympäristön odotukset, fyysisen tilan suhteen vastaukset olivat enemmän erilaisia keskenään. Osa tutkimukseen osallistujista toivoi yhteisöllisen asumismuodon käsittävän kommuunin sijasta yksiön/kaksion ja aktivoivat ja viihtyisät yhteiset tilat. Kommuunimuotoisessa yhteisössä erityisesti ikääntymisen vuoksi, toivottiin yksityisyyden mahdollistavaa varustetasoa omaan huoneeseen. Asuinyhteisön miellyttävän ympäristön ja asukkaiden keskinäisen vuorovaikutuksen ansiosta hyvä elämänlaatu nähtiin mahdollisena. Ikääntyessä asuinolosuhteiden merkitys korostuu. Erilaiset sairaudet ja toimintakyvyn laskeminen vaikeuttavat liikkumista ja heikentävät ikäihmisen mahdollisuuksia esimerkiksi kiinteistönhoitoon. Haastatteluiden perusteella ikääntymisen myötä tarve yhteisölliselle toiminnalle sekä asuinympäristölle lisääntyy. Väestöpohjaltaan pienessä Kolarin kunnassa tulisi löytää entistä enemmän keinoja yhteisöllisen asumisen kehittämiseen. Onnistuessaan yhteisöllinen asuminen tuottaa asumismuotonsa perusteella hyvinvointia niin yksilön kuin yhteiskunnankin kannalta. The goal of this thesis was to research the expectations of the elderly of Kolari regarding co-housing and to study their readiness to move to a community housing facility. The gathered data will guide the development of co-housing in the municipality of Kolari. The thesis is part of a development project of a sheltered housing area started by a working group on elderly and people with disabilities in the municipality of Kolari. The results of this thesis were used in planning a project called Kylä in the municipality of Kolari. A qualitative approach was used in this thesis. The participants were retirees who were interested in co-housing and who lived in the municipality of Kolari. The data was analysed inductively by using content analysis. The results suggested that the retirees in Kolari who were interested in co-housing expected wellbeing and empowerment from the co-housing arrangements. Expectations for an empowering environment consisted of accessibility, attainable services, and opportunities for nature experiences. The interviewed participants had rather uniform expectations concerning the expectations of the social environment, but the answers about the expectations of the physical space differed more. Some of the participants hoped that the communal living would include a one-room or a two-room apartment and comfortable common spaces instead of a commune. Especially due to aging, enough facilities to enable privacy were hoped for in a more communal setting. Good quality of life was seen possible based on a pleasant environment and interactions between the inhabitants. The meaning of living circumstances grows more significant when people age. Different illnesses and the decrease in functional capacity make movement more difficult and decrease the elderly person’s chances for example to maintain their cope with their yardwork and maintenance of their house. The interviews conducted in this study suggest that the need for communal activities and living environments increases due to aging. In a small population municipality such as Kolari, more means for developing co-housing should be discovered. If done right, co-housing creates wellbeing for both the individuals and the society.
