Energy conservation is the highest priority of state energy policy. High rate of development of the Russian economy requires a significant increase of energy, but cheaper and greener to save energy than to build new power plants. The article compares the energy consumption of Finland and Republic of Karelia. The authors reveal regional energy problems, lead to the classification of regions and measures to improve energy efficiency. Developed and proposed measures to improve the situation in the energy sector of the Republic of Karelia. Энергосбережение является высшим приоритетом государственной энергетической политики. Вы-сокий темп развития российской экономики требует значительного прироста энергоресурсов, но выгоднее и экологичнее экономно расходовать энергию, чем строить новые электростанции. В статье сравнивается энергоёмкость Финляндии и Республики Карелия. Авторы раскрывают региональные энергетические проблемы, приводят классификацию регионов и мероприятия по улучшению энергоэффективности. Разработаны и предложены меры по улучшению ситуации в энергетическом секторе Республики Карелия.
