| Summary: | The analysis of major problems of timber complex enables to make a conclusion that for regulation of its activity a modern evaluation system, which allows to detect main problems in the complex activity and elaborate a range of events for improving its effectiveness, is needed. Thus, the topicality of the chosen research topic is conditioned by this fact.The main research objective is to develop a balanced system of indicators and methods for evaluation the effectiveness of regional timber complex development.The methodological basis of the research are scientific works of Russian and foreign scholars on the studied problem. The methods of comprehensive approach, statistical analysis and expert judgements are applied.In the course of the research study the following results are obtained: according to the timber complex specificity a balanced system of indicators is developed, within a framework of a constituent of meeting the needs for forest products the original indicators, which enable to evaluate the level of the region’s provision with forest products in whole and by assortment, are suggested, and main directions of forest products use and the sources of providing the region with the need in it.The developed balanced system of indicators and methods are successfully applied for the evaluation of the timber complex effectiveness in the Arkhangelsk region. The conditions of production and products realization, facilitating the effectiveness improvement, are detected.The developed system of indicators and methods can be used for evaluating the level of effectiveness of industrial complexes development, timely detection of main problems in their activity.The application of results, obtained during the investigation, in case of their practical use makes it possible to create a diagnostic system, which enables to provide effectiveness balance according to all indicators of the evaluation system.
