They are important because of their potential contributions as a future source of energy, to global warming, and as a possible trigger for long run-out submarine slope instability. This paper describes laboratory experiments to synthesise disseminated methane hydrates and to characterise them under small-strain dynamic loading in the resonant column apparatus. The effects of depositing varying quantities of methane hydrate within a sand are investigated by reference to their shear and bulk modulus, and damping, over a range of isotropic effective stress. Results are compared with those obtained on the same sand without hydrate bonding and after dissociation. Les hydrates de méthane sont des composés ressemblant à de la glace qui peuvent exister uniquement en conditions thermobariques restreintes, à basse température ou sous une pression ambiante élevée. Ils sont importants en raison de leur contribution potentielle, en tant que future source d'énergie, au réchauffement de la planète, et en tant que déclencheur possible de l'instabilité des longues pentes sous-marines. Cet exposé décrit les expériences en laboratoire visant à synthétiser les hydrates de méthane disséminés et visant à les caractériser sous charge dynamique à petite déformation dans l'appareil à colonne de résonance. Nous étudions les effets produits par le dépôt de quantités variables d'hydrate de méthane dans du sable en nous référant à leur module de cisaillement et de compressibilité ainsi qu'au compactage, sur une gamme de contraintes effectives isotropes. Nous comparons les résultats avec ceux obtenus sur le même sable sans adhérence des hydrates et après dissociation.
