Den här kandidatuppsatsen inom ämnet landsbygdsutveckling syftar till att undersöka drivkrafter och samverkan inom och mellan byarna i ett norrländskt landsbygdsområde, samt att även undersöka den samverkan som finns mellan bygd och kommun. Människor i byarna har med hjälp av samverkan över bygränserna startat ekonomiska föreningar samt utvecklingsbolag som skapar möjlighet för lokalbefolkningen att investera i den lokala utvecklingen. Eftersom mitt intresse ligger i det sociala kapitalets bidrag till den lokala utvecklingen har jag valt att fokusera på lokala organisationer i byarna. Förutom ett starkt samarbete mellan de lokala organisationerna arbetar vissa organisationer i partnerskap med kommunen. Det sociala kapitalet mellan de olika aktörerna byggs upp med hjälp av förtroende, tillit och gemensamma värderingar. Jag kommer i denna uppsats att undersöka vad det sociala kapitalet i detta område grundar sig i samt hur det påverkar den lokala utvecklingen. This bachelor thesis in the subject of rural development aims to examine the driving forces and interactions within and between villages in a rural area in the north of Sweden. The synergy that exists between the activities at village level and municipality is also of great interest. Inhabitants in the villages have, with the help of cross-border cooperation, started and developed economic activities and companies that have created opportunities for local people to invest in local development. My interest lies in the contribution of social capital to local development, and I have chosen to focus on local organizations in the area. The associations have in addition a strong partnership with each other and with the municipality (Boden kommun). Social capital between the different actors is built up with the help of trust, confidence and common values. In this thesis I will investigate the social capital and what it means for the local development in a rural area in northern Sweden.
