Summary: | RES Master´s Thesis Verkefnið er unnið í tengslum við Háskóla Íslands og Háskólann á Akureyri The purpose of this work is to investigate in which EU member States it is possible to utilize Combined Heat and Intelligent Power technology, which can produce electricity with high efficiency. The paper investigates the Member States’ policies and subsidies for renewable electricity production from liquid biomass and additional tax deduction and benefits. The result shows that four Member States are the most promising: Germany, Austria, Portugal and The Netherlands. Research for the sustainability of pure plant oils is also part of this work. The investigation shows that the most common in use plant oils such as palm, rapeseed, jatropha, soybean can contribute to the greenhouse gases reduction. However, incorrect land use and irresponsible deforestation can increase GHG emission more than 20 times. Thus, Blue-NG company must be ready to surmount high opposition for the use of plant oils from developing countries.
