| Summary: | Þetta lokaverkefni er í tveimur hlutum, þýðing og greinargerð. Textinn sem er valinn til þýðingar fyrir verkefnið er skjal Íslenskrar málnefndar með tillögum að íslenskri málstefnu. Í fyrri hluta greinargerðarinnar er fjallað um bakgrunn íslenskrar málstefnu og ástæður fyrir henni. Þar er gerður samburður á aðstæðum á Íslandi og í Þýskalandi og fjallað um tilvist málstefnu eða vöntun á henni í Þýskalandi. Í seinni hluta greinargerðarinnar er gerð grein fyrir ákvörðunum og áskorunum í þýðingaferlinu og verkinu almennt. Markmið verkefnisins er að gera efnið um íslensku og íslenska málstefnu þeim aðgengilegt sem hafa áhuga á því. Uppfylling markmiðsins felst í því að þýða efnið sjálft og að gera hinn valda texta aðgengilegan á þann hátt að hugsanlegir viðtakendur skilji tilgang textans og upplýsingarnar í honum. This final thesis is presented in two parts, a translation and a description of the translation process that also contains theoretical information about the background behind the topic of the text chosen for translation. The chosen text is a document from Íslensk málnefnd, the Icelandic Language Committee, with proposals for the Icelandic language policy. In the first part of the report the background of Icelandic language policy is discussed together with the reasons that lead to it. It compares the situation in Iceland and in Germany, and discusses the existence of a language policy or rather the lack of it in Germany. The second part of the report describes the decisions that were taken and challenges that occurred during the process of translation and in general. The goal of this project is to make material about the Icelandic language policy and Icelandic accessible to those interested in the subject. The aim is to translate the content itself and to ensure that the selected text is made accessible in a way that potential recipients can easily understand the purpose of the text and most importantly the information it contains.
