There are articles and books written on continental European marginalia texts and images but when it comes to Icelandic manuscripts, there are only several papers which discuss the marginalia text and none which focuses on marginalia images. This thesis will discuss the marginalia images of two Icelandic manuscripts AM 345 fol. and AM 431 12mo from the 16th century with the help of continental European manuscripts to deepen the understanding of the scribes and scribal culture in medieval Iceland. The first chapter with deal with the general history and scribal culture in Iceland. The second chapter will go into the continental European manuscript production and scribal culture. The third chapter will discuss the Marginalia images of AM 345 fol. and AM 431 12mo applying the theories that have been discussed in the previous chapters. This thesis attempts to open conversations about marginalia images in Icelandic manuscripts which previously has not been talked about in the hopes that there will be further discussions about the marginalia images of Icelandic manuscripts. Í fyrsta kafla er fjallað almennt um sögu handritaskrifara á Íslandi. Í öðrum kafla er sjónum beint að handritagerð og skrifaramenningu í Evrópu og í þriðja ...
