| Summary: | Ghost Walks can be found all around the world and the stories told in these walks can be used to explore history and cultural heritage in the locations where they are offered. Reykjavík’s downtown area is filled with many culturally and historically significant locations, but it is also filled with stories of hauntings and ghosts. We investigate some of these stories and how they tell us about bygone eras and how those that came before us lived. Ghost Stories can be used to give visitors an opportunity to imagine life, and the act of attending a ghost walk can make a visitor feel closer and more attached to an area, while simultaneously giving them an insight into cultural heritage and local history.
