Markmið rannsóknarinnar var að rannsaka þennan kynjamun í sjálfsáliti með því að bera saman kynin fyrir og eftir 8 vikna Dale Carnegie námskeið á Íslandi og við samanburðarhóp. Markmið rannsóknarinnar var að rannsaka þennan kynjamun í sjálfsáliti með því að bera saman kynin fyrir og eftir 8 vikna Dale Carnegie námskeið á Íslandi og við samanburðarhóp. Samanburðarhópurinn samanstóð af einstaklingum sem höfðu ekki lokið Dale Carnegie námskeiði og tilgáturnar voru annarvegar að það væri meiri kynjamunur á sjálfsáliti hjá samanburðarhópnum en hjá þeim sem hafa lokið Dale Carnegie námskeiði og hins vegar að það væri minni kynjamismunur á sjálfsáliti hjá þátttakendum sem höfðu lokið Dale Carnegie námskeiði. Boðið var upp á nafnlaus og ópersónugreinanlega spurningarkönnun sem innihélt meðal annars Rosenberg spurningarlista sem mælir sjálfsálit. Svör þátttakendanna (N=87) gáfu til kynna að tilgáturnar stæðust ekki og að það sé meiri kynjamismunur á sjálfsáliti eftir námskeið og minni kynjamismunur í samanburðarhópnum. Lykilorð: Sjálfsálit, kynjamismunur, Dale Carnegie þjálfun Males have been reported to have higher self-esteem compared to females. This study aimed to test this gender difference by comparing the genders before and after an 8-week Dale Carnegie training in Iceland and to a comparison group. The comparison group consisted of individuals who had not attended Dale Carnegie training before. The first hypothesis was that there would be a greater gender difference in selfesteem between participants in the comparison group compared to the participants that finished Dale Carnegie training. The second hypothesis was that there would be a lesser gender difference between the participants who had completed the Dale Carnegie training. A nameless and unidentifiable questionnaire was offered to participants that in part consisted of The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES) which measured self-esteem. Results from participants (N=87) did not support the hypothesis and suggested that there was a greater gender difference between the participants that had completed the Dale Carnegie training where the females had higher self-esteem than males ...
