Verkefni þetta fjallar um ofbeldi sem framið er í skugga andlegra veikinda og afmarkast sú skoðun við geðklofa. Meginmarkmið með þessari ritgerð var að kanna áhrif geðklofa á einstaklinga og aðstandendur þeirra, einnig voru skoðaðar þær birtingamyndir ofbeldis sem einstaklingar með geðklofa höfðu lent í eða höfðu veitt öðrum. Spurningarnar sem leitast var við að svara voru þrjár, hver er tíðni geðraskana hjá börnum og fullorðnum einstaklinum í Reykjavík? Hvaða áhrif getur það haft á börn að alast upp hjá einstaklingi með andleg veikindi? Hversu líklegt er að þeir sem haldnir eru geðklofa fremji alvarlega glæpi? This project deals with violence committed in the shadow of mental illness and is limited to schizophrenia. The main objective of this essay was to examine the effects of schizophrenia on individuals and their family members, as well as to examine the manifestations of violence that individuals with schizophrenia have experienced themselves or given to others. The questions that must be answered in this project are three: what is the frequency of mental disorders in children and adults in Reykjavík? What effect can growing up on a child with a mental illness have on children? How likely are those with schizophrenia to commit serious crimes?
