Small-scale biogas upgrading : feasibility study of small-scale biogas upgrading in Iceland and possible methods

Methods for upgrading biogas to vehicular standards, to reduce the need for petrol and diesel, are examined if feasible for small-scale upgrading. Water Scrubber adsorption and Membrane biogas separation where found feasible. The water scrubber system was found the only available option for upgradin...

The water scrubber system was found the only available option for upgrading gas from the WWTP anaerobic digester in Vífilfell, being the only one commercially available to upgrade gas for the flow rate in Vífilfell, results show that it is a realistic option for the company if they use the gas for the company vehicles. Dairy-Farm-scale upgrading was found only financially possible for larger farms, with at least 130-140 dairy cows producing more than 20Nm3/hr of raw gas. Without any financial support the initial cost becomes too high for farms with fewer dairy cows. Læst vegna upplýsinga um viðskipahugmynd Thesis Iceland Skemman (Iceland)
