Hvernig á að greina Micropterna lateralis (Stephens) frá öðrum vorflugum á Íslandi?

Árið 2010 fannst ný tegund af vorflugu við Mógilsá í Kollafirði. Tegundin reyndist vera Micropterna lateralis (Stephens) sem lifir hluta lífsferilsins í straumvatni. Lirfur M. lateralis hafa aldrei fundist á Íslandi. Markmið rannsóknarinnar var að finna þau einkenni sem greina lirfur M. lateralis frá öðrum vorflugum á Íslandi. Engar lirfur af tegundinni M. lateralis fundust við sýnatökur. Því var leitað í heimildum af lýsingum á lirfunni og leiðum til þess að greina M. lateralis frá öðrum vorflugulirfum. Vorflugan Potamophylax cingulatus er lík M. lateralis og hafa þær sama búsvæðaval og var því notuð til þess að greina M. lateralis frá öðrum tegundum. Þessi aðgreining fólst í mun á sérstökum hliðarhárum á lærleggjum lirfanna. Tillaga um viðbót í greiningalykil frá Gísla Má Gíslasyni (1979) er lögð fram þar sem einkennum M. lateralis er bætt við lykilinn. Since the year 1974, there had been 11 species of Trichoptera in Iceland. The year 2010, however, their number was increased to 12. Erling Ólafson found two individuals of the species Micropterna lateralis (Stephens) that were caught in a light-trap at Mógilsá in the South-West of Iceland in 2008. Since then, M. lateralis individuals have been caught every year at Mógilsá. The M. lateralis larva has, however, never been found in Iceland. The aim of this research project was to find the larva, describe it, and describe the ways to identify it from other Trichoptera larvae in Iceland. A total of 568 larvae were collected, but ufortunately no M. lateralis larvae were found. As an alternative, literature was used to research the description of the larva and then describe how to identify it from other species. Potamophylax cingulatus is used to identify M. lateralis with the difference in setae on the posterior side of femur 2 and 3. The difference is that P. cingulatus has none of the additional setae that M. lateralis has. This identification could be used to update the identification key of Icelandic Trichoptera by Gísli Már Gíslason (1979). A proposal is made ...
